Home security starts at the front door, and choosing the right lock matters. Xthings’ new Ultraloq Bolt Sense blends convenience with multiple entry methods and introduces a less common option that could prove useful in specific situations.
The Bolt Sense is a relatively compact smart lock that pairs facial recognition with palm-vein verification to enable fully contactless access without needing an app.
Xthings says palm-vein scanning is more reliable than fingerprint sensors because it reads the vein pattern under the skin, so wet or dirty hands should not interfere with authentication. The company also notes the technology uses near-infrared light, so it should work even in complete darkness.
Wi-Fi, Matter plans, and a simpler sibling
The Ultraloq Bolt Sense includes built-in Wi-Fi for smart home integration, and Xthings says it plans to support the Matter standard.
The Bolt Sense is expected to ship in the second quarter of this year, leaving the company time to deliver Matter support before the first customers receive their locks.
Xthings also announced a less feature-rich model called the Latch 7 Pro, which should reach the market earlier. The Latch 7 Pro will not include palm-vein verification but will support Matter-over-Thread and Aliro.
