Adobe Brings Full-Featured Photoshop to Android (Beta) with Firefly Tools and Paid Tier

Adobe has launched a beta of its new Photoshop app for Android, bringing many of the desktop app’s core tools to smartphones.

The app rolls beyond Photoshop Express but does not yet match the full desktop feature set. Basic editing is free, while a subscription unlocks advanced tools.

What’s in the Android beta?

The Android release mirrors the majority of features familiar to desktop users. You can combine and blend images using selections, layers, and masks. Quick removal and replacement of image parts are supported, along with a retouching brush for cleaning up distracting elements.

Photoshop for Android also includes generative features powered by Adobe Firefly for adding or transforming elements, plus access to Adobe Stock. It integrates with Creative Cloud apps such as Adobe Express, Lightroom, and Fresco.

Precise selection tools like Object Selection and Magic Wand are available, and you can control layers and effects with advanced blending modes and layer adjustments.

Free vs. paid features

Most of the features listed above are available for free, including some generative edits like repairing missing parts or removing unwanted objects.

However, more advanced capabilities require a Photoshop Mobile & Web subscription. The paid tier unlocks Magic Wand, Object Selection, Content-Aware Fill, the Clone Stamp, and the Remove tool.

Pricing for the subscription is $8 per month or $70 per year.

Availability and system requirements

Adobe revealed the iOS version earlier this year and promised an Android release by the end of 2025; the company has delivered sooner in the form of this beta.

The app requires Android 11 or later and at least 6 GB of RAM, with 8 GB recommended for optimal performance.
