Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Aaron, and I recently began an exciting new chapter in my career. I was hired by Century Properties Management Inc. (CPMI) as an IT Specialist, and I am currently assigned to one of its major residential developments, The Residences at Commonwealth in Quezon City.
This is my first official blog post, and I’m thrilled to share my journey with you. Whether you’re an aspiring IT professional, someone working in the property management field, or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes in residential tech support, I hope my story provides you with insight and inspiration.
Starting My Career in Property Management IT
Working in IT has always been a passion of mine. Getting hired by CPMI was a significant milestone, and I feel privileged to be entrusted with the responsibility of supporting the entire property.
What makes my role unique is that I am the only IT specialist on site. I handle all technical needs across various departments, from Admin to Accounting to Engineering. It’s a challenging role, but one that I take pride in every day.
My Responsibilities as an IT Specialist
Many people think IT work is just about fixing computers, but my job includes much more than that. Here’s a breakdown of what I handle on a daily basis:
- Office Support – I provide day-to-day technical assistance to office departments such as Admin, Accounting, and Engineering. From login issues to printer malfunctions, I’m the go-to person for any tech-related concern.
- Hardware and Software Management – I take care of desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other devices. I also install and update software, manage licenses, and ensure that all systems are secure and functional.
- Network and Internet Management – I monitor and maintain our local area network (LAN), routers, and switches. Keeping the internet connection stable and secure is a key part of my role.
- CCTV System Maintenance – Security is critical in a residential community. I ensure that all CCTV cameras are working properly, recordings are backed up, and footage is available when needed.
- Data Backup and Recovery – I perform regular data backups and make sure we have a reliable recovery plan in place to prevent data loss during emergencies.
The Challenges and Rewards
Being the only IT person means I often face multiple issues at the same time. It can be overwhelming, but I’ve learned how to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
What I love most about this job is the variety. One day I might be setting up a new PC, and the next I’m troubleshooting a network outage or reviewing CCTV footage. The challenges keep me learning and growing every day.
Why I Started This Blog
I created this blog to document my experiences, share IT tips, and hopefully help others who are in the same field. I believe that sharing real-life knowledge, especially from environments outside of traditional corporate settings, can be valuable to many.
Whether you’re starting your career in IT or you’re just curious about what it’s like to be a one-man IT team in a residential setting, I hope my posts give you some insight and guidance.
What’s Next?
In the coming weeks, I plan to publish more posts about the technical issues I face and how I solve them. Expect practical tutorials, tips on managing small networks, and stories from my daily work life.
I also want to write about best practices in cybersecurity, backup strategies, and system maintenance, all based on real experiences in the field.
Final Thoughts
This is just the beginning of my journey as an IT professional in the property management industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support The Residences at Commonwealth and to grow professionally in a role that challenges and inspires me every day.
