PABX Installation for Better Connectivity

Connecting Lobbies and Offices with a Reliable Phone System

We’re currently working on a major communication upgrade at The Residences at Commonwealth, the installation of a PABX (Private Automatic Branch Exchange) system. This project aims to connect all 8 lobbies, the clubhouse, and admin offices through a reliable internal calling system.

Gone are the days na ang way of communication lang ay Viber or cellphone. With this setup, we can call each lobby or office directly by just dialing their assigned local number. Mabilis, seamless, at walang hassle.

Project Contractor: Century Asia Corporation (CAC)

The contractor handling this project is CAC (Century Asia Corporation). As of now, I’ve been assisting their team in laying out CAT6 cables, from tower to tower and ensuring all routes are neat, secure, and ready for testing.

With the help of our Engineering Department, we double-checked kung saan dumaan ang mga cables, making sure everything is safe, properly routed, and aesthetically clean para hindi maging sagabal sa paningin ng mga unit owners and tenants.

The Central Hub: My Office

Interestingly, the main PABX apparatus will be installed in my office, the same place where our PLDT internet and landline lines terminate. Basically, it’s the heart of the entire network.

Once everything is in place, I’ll be the one assigned to troubleshoot and maintain the system. That includes checking local call issues, connectivity, and coordinating with CAC if problems arise.

How the System Works

  • Every lobby, office, and facility is assigned a local extension.
  • When someone needs to call another lobby or office, they just pick up the phone and dial the extension number, no need to use a cellphone or wait for someone to check Viber.
  • Internal calls are faster, more professional, and more secure.

My Experience So Far

So far, I’ve assisted in:

  • Mapping out the cable layout between towers
  • Coordinating with CAC engineers and electricians
  • Working with the Engineering Department to finalize safe and tidy cable placements
  • Identifying ideal drop points for phones
  • Ensuring the CAT6 cabling won’t interfere with existing systems

Hindi lang basta support ang role ko, I also take this opportunity to learn how the PABX system works, especially pagdating sa configuration and troubleshooting. It’s another valuable skill to add sa pagiging all-around IT.

Why PABX Matters in Property Management

In any property with multiple buildings and teams, communication is everything. From emergency updates to daily coordination between housekeeping, security, admin, and maintenance, a PABX system ensures that everyone is connected at all times.

Plus, internal calls are free and don’t rely on mobile signal, which can be spotty in certain towers.

Looking Ahead

Once the installation is complete, I’ll start doing regular system tests, document common issues, and create a simple troubleshooting guide for the staff. This way, kahit wala ako, they can do basic checks before calling for support.

This project may seem small to some, but for us here in TRCCAI, it’s a big step in modernizing how we work together.
