Nearly a year after its debut, the Yale Linus L2 smart lock is rolling out a major upgrade: support for the Matter protocol. That expands the lock’s smart home reach beyond Google Home and Amazon Alexa to include Apple Home.
What the Linus L2 Already Delivered?
The slightly slimmer Linus L2 shipped with the core features buyers expect: app-based unlocking, remote access, NFC tag unlocking, scheduled auto-unlock, and optional accessories like biometric fingerprint access.
It also supported integrations with other smart home products via Google Home and Amazon Alexa from day one.
What Matter Changes for Users?
With Matter on board, Linus L2 owners can now add the lock to Apple Home. That enables use of Apple shortcuts, Home widgets, and voice control through Siri.
It also lets users tie the lock into automations alongside other Apple Home devices, including lights, blinds, and smart speakers.
